3rd December 2020

damp and dreary
under sullen grey clouds

next door,
the skip is full
it's always full
except when it's empty.
Like a community Homebase
one man's rubbish
becomes another's treasure.
Jean spends hours adding roof tiles,
carrying them one by one
across the road
It takes me thirty minutes to remove them
adding to a pile of stone and brick in the garden
to make a raised bed when spring arrives.
The day before
someone dropped in a dead mobile scooter
and the scrapman had a field day.
Tomorrow the skip will be full.
The skip is always full,
it's the contents that change.
