early sunshine
occluded by clouds
barking chorus

he can tell her mood
by her morning song
as whatever resides in her head
creeps out to greet the day.
Sometimes she is happy, joyful;
some sixties brit-pop to break the silence
but most days she is mournful
gutter-deep notes
reverberating along the pipes
