Newcastle Trip (part one)

Delightful old shops
in the Grainger district with
fascinating windows.

The Black Gate stands while
St Nicholas' Cathedral
chimes in the background.

A cathedral bench,
lit by evening sunshine
still looks inviting.

Loved cobbled side streets
and wondered what used to be
so important here.

boarded-up decay
recalls the splendour of years
faded long ago.

The architecture!

I'm stunned by the beauty of it all!

DK did all the 'proper' shots on her super camera. I just take the odd and the overlooked (except for the keep - I think everyone takes that shot of the Black Gate.

Great shots Rach. Hope you had a great couple of days. What fun. I've never been there, although my sister went to uni there.

Great architecture.

xx

Thanks Gina. I went to Uni there, too.

Tried to ask this yesterday but blogger was down.

Is The Black Gate the tower or that little bit under the bridge.

And congrats on making your first sale! I knew it would happen! (I gave Lane hell as it was obvious that she hadn't read my blog in a bit!)

{And - The Man just walked by and asked if I was going to parody this blog with 'When the Bees Sting'}

The Black Gate is the whole building. It was the 17th century northern gatehouse of the the castle.

Does a sale count when it's to a friend? A different friend snapped up two of the paitings, but she's bought one of mine before.

The Man was spot on with where the blog title came from - 'When the Dog Bites' was already taken.

I don't know - isn't a sale a sale? I sold my slippers to Crystal Jigsaw...still I got paid...so I guess it counts.

And ya - The Man's humour? Dry - like yours....not surprising then is it?

True :)
Sales are sales and I'm desperate for them at the moment.

I like the sound of your The Man. :)
