Oh! I had to look up "King John" before commenting. So, this is Black John? Excellent. I think I really must visit Haddon Hall one day.

Yes, he allowed the lord to build a 12' wall, hence known as King John's wall. (It's higher now).

There are eight Haddon Hall joiners.

I can imagine this in it's heyday - women in long flowing (dirty) gowns and men with their scabbards and helmets.

This needs a warning sign (spiked heels caution) Can you imagine getting your heel stuck between those stones?

It would be interesting to see an early drawing. Much of the view is 19th-20th century

It was my first visit
