The beaches where I am have no huts. I always wondered what they really looked like... just like I imagined as it turns out. :)

Where the photo was taken was below beach level, so the other side of the huts open onto the beach.

How long have beach huts been in existence there?

I too have never seen one and am quite fascinated with them. What are they for (besides screwing in?)

Beach huts have been around since the 1750s and provide a safe place to change into your swimsuit in private and leave your belongings while you swim
