Postbox

26-09-10 post box

For those not in the UK, the 'GR' stands for 'George Regina' and means the postbox was erected during the reign of George VI

I love these older post boxes and also the insignia on drain covers and such like.

My knowledge of King George VI pretty much begins and ends with two things: World War II and Winston Churchill. And I guess somewhere, somehow, Elizabeth II fits in there but I'm such a freak for Elizabeth I that my Anglophilia seems to peter out somewhere back there.

Which is not to say that I don't love images like this, that remind me some places still appreciate (and don't tear down and rebuild over) the older things of this world. Lovely.

*smiles* Love it. The post box is echoed in almost every other line and curve in the photo.

We should start a... something. "This is the box from which I mailed X's copy of, and this is the box from which I mailed so-and-so's birthday card..."

Nah. I'd never hold up my end.

This is the box between my house and the cinema, so I post a small amount in there.
