yes the eclipse was obscured here. no sparrows just quiet and the occasional sound of traffic (oh and the alarm we had forgotten to reset on a radio clock). did you see any of the meteorites

No -- I didn't see the meteorites either.
We stayed up much of the night to see the meteorites but too much cloud, the same for the eclipse. Grump grump.
K went off to the moors to look but i was too lazy.
