morning frost
killing off my newly planted cyclamen.
Bollocks.

golden paint
flashes on fresh canvas
just to see how it looks.
There's no contrast to it
just a splash of gold
against the white ground.
It's almost perfect
but how could I ever justify
such a simple painting?
At the very least
I'll have to cover the canvas
in tints of ochre and blue
just to justify the cost
and the delight I have of surface.
