wild strawberries
sweeter then honey
The dog stumps past
looking for grass to chew on
his tail wagging
with ramdom thought or memory
and paws filthy with soil and dust
from the latest hole he's dug.
June drop sends tiny, hard apples
raining over dry lawns
while bramble flowers spread white wings
from the tangle of climbing roses
at the bottom of the garden
