Five a.m.
woken by WhatsApp
video call required.
I focus slowly
wondering just who calls
at such an hour.
I don't recognise the number
of the picture of the young man.
Call declined.
I worry he's someone
trapped in a burning building
or floating in a liferaft
and desperately needs help.
He tries again at 5:30
declined again.
When I rise, I check the logs.
"You are so beautiful"
"I love you"
Dude?
My grandson's older than you.
Number blocked.
