 I still equate beautiful
with thin
despite a lifetime of being fat
and a double helping of body issues
I was thin, once,
before my brother died
and my mother
took the pharmaceuticals.
At least she dissuaded me
from a pacetetomol suicide.
All those tubes and stomach pumps
and she never did regain consciousness.
All for the loss of her little boy
while her teenage daughter cries
to the beep of a heart monitor.
