befouled by litter
and empty heroin wraps
I cleaned here last week
a blank canvas
for litterers.
A hawthorn
broken down by vandals
desperate to make a mark on the world
before they become fathers,
council tenants
right-wing voters.
Amazonia is burning
to make way for McDonalds;
take away the planet's lungs
and fill it with cows.
