the distant sound of a dog

there's a For Sale sign
next door
to where we used to live
the Old Lady must have died.
We used to call her 'Bin Lady'
because she banged the lids
just to annoy us;
report us for child abuse,
shout at our kids
tell the Fire Brigade our shed was dangerous
and destroy bits of our garden she didn't like.
I was glad to move away;
leave her to her miseries
and now, it seems, she's died.
