I grew up a boy;
a gay-bot, faggot queer
wearing dresses and make-up
from the earliest I can remember.
I likes girls, too,
but there wasn't a word for that
in my conservative little suburb
and I had to wait for college
for the terms bisexual
and transsexual
(this was long before transgender was a thing
and twenty years before the beeping
of a 28.8K modem, where the internet
exploded the awareness of a generation)
and it wasn't until my thirties
when I signed the blood-pact
and the the arduous journey into womanhood
and while I have no regrets
it was not an easy path
no matter what your Tory Mother says.
