night sky
dark and velvet
a few stars visible
bare trees against the sky
the winter mountains shielding us from harm
sharp planes
underlit by the town beneath
the sheltering sky
we raised white brick
lit by sodium vapour lights
dark roofs climbing high
to snow-covered peaks
a village nestled in the lee of the wind
a community together
and a killer on the loose
