the rats now feed from the front garden
to say I am not impressed
is an understatement
when they casually bypass the traps
baited with peanut butter and cheese
to climb the new-leafed birch
and steal from the sparrows.
Next-door's cat
0ld and weary
examines the scent trail
but can do little to help
and the borking of the dog
is limited to the back garden
which the scampering bastards
are using as a run-through.
