Sonnet for Daisy Haggard

I've seen her many times in TV shows
and films and never made a passing thought
of how she was the spit of girls I chose
as my ideal when as I teen I wrought
to conquer my inadequate visage
and come to terms with being gay as rain.
I must have always looked outré, bizarre
with heavy-lidded eyes and face like train
but mellowed in my later years, a switch
clicks in my goin. Could this be love once more?
a crush upon an actress to bewitch
me as a grey old lady and a bore
who rarely leaves the house except for walks
with dog and of immoral youth still talks.
