the shed came down.
I suggested ways to strengthen it;
metallise the walls with washing machine sides
to make it rat-proof
chiken-wire floors
to stop them chewing through;
blocking off the hole they chewed
in the back gate.
"No," she said. "I want it gone."
So we pulled off the roof
and sawed out the floor
and split the panels into two
(lengthways, to make a raised bed)
and carried the pieces
to the bottom of the garden.
And the rats?
They moved into the other shed.
