as I walk the dog to post cards

schoolchildren
gathered around the gates
all wearing facial masks.
Do they have mouths under there?
or just blank flesh?
You're wearing a mask yourself.
Has your mouth skinned over?
The dog shits.
The dog always shits
Everything you give him
you pick up again afterwards.
The bin is full
The bin is empty.
A full bin summons the dustcart.
A man in a yellow hat thanks me
for my contribution to the cart's belly.
