morning rain
on the vegetable patch
I plant marigolds

elderflowers
are the scent of summer
but when they fade
the trees smell of death
and decomposition
and are generally covered in blackfly
farmed by nearby ants.
I leave them in the wild, thanks,
and pick the berries for wine.
