blustery rain
playing havoc with teachers

he worked overtime
as much as he possibly could
needing the extra cash
above the pittance he earned.
Mostly it was to stay away
from the house where he'd he'd been happy
before his wife died
and his kids became bitter and strange.
When he retired early
he contracted the disease which killed him
too soon.
