Remembrance day
and a minute of silence
at 11:00 AM.
Do we remember the soldiers as they were?
Fresh faced schoolkids
idealistic and encouraged by those
who stay well back from the trenches?
English, German, Australian, French.
They just wanted to go home
while they were still alive.
Too old to be called up,
I'd still fight for democracy.
