an old 'Play for Today'
from the mid seventies or so
sparks memories of my youth.
Despite the casual racism
(normal for the time)
and everyone smoking, everywhere,
the depiction of the working class
was just as accurate as now;
the unheated council flats
the idea of beauty as defined by models,
and the undeniable despair
of the common man.
