gives blood pressure readings
and anxiety

against the coming dawn
look like the martian ships
from the fifties' 'War of the Worlds.'
What would we do if they came?
The pettiness of mankind
squabbling over fossil fuels
united against a common enemy,
but most of us would die.
I take my dogs to the Malvern Hills
and marvel at the last of the world
while I thought of you
one last time.
