Dad's vegetable plot
was deemed Out of Bounds
unless I was with him
or sent on an errand to pick
something for mother;
mint or strawberries;
rosemary or radishes.
Still I would creep there after tea
looking for the sweet treats:
cabbage plowers and pea pods
soft fruit and baby carrots
ot those hard green tomatoes
from the foliage of potatoes.
