not a great drinker,
unless you counted tea,
of which he drank several gallons a day,
he'd still put a shot of whisky
in the last one before bed
and swore that it kept him in good health,
though I never saw him without a handkerchief
to wipe at his streaming nose
and his feet in a bowl of hot water
to soften his ingrown toenails.
He never drank coffee
because that's all they ever got
when he was fighting in Malaysia
but he'd take a glass of wine at Christmas
when he wore his best jumper.
