the cold wind rustling
dropped fruit

heading into town
heart thumping
as it did when I was a child.
This is the same feeling
as I used to get before a jumble sale;
the same anxiety I used to get
when there was someone in front of me
who will get first pick.
No jumble sale today, but a plant sale
and I'm hoping for a lupin or three.
No lupins, but I bag a few perennials
and a couple of strawberry plants.
