cold night
slippy slidy on the wetty grippo*
slush turns to ice

a shaft of blue exposed in gracious light
brings promise of a slightly better day
the bins are out, and waiting for the right
refuse truck to take recycling away.
The rubbish we accumulated here
consisting most of plastic packaging
o'er the time of TV specials and good cheer
when all lament consumerism's lackaging.
I've filled the green bin full of garden waste
and paid my yearly fee to have it gone
although such fees were covered by the rates
the council imposed extra. What a con!
The public litter bins have been removed
the streets are full of filth but public soothed.
