VIII.IV
She wants to offer sympathy but can't
for she, too, is a societal pariah
besides, he's talking about racism not art
and there she is the race of the oppressor.
Anything she says will be a buttercup at best
for she has no idea what he suffers
and if he were to question her, to put her to the test,
she must admit to privilege o'er others.
For though she feels hard done by, her current poverty
is just a temporary period of life
she had the opportunity to follow all her dreams
and never lived through suffering and strife.
