child's scream
a deserted, rain-swept street
Ash, gaming

Mum knew I was quite unlike other boys
though was careful to keep me from harm
bought me the clothes and masculine toys;
took me to church to develop my charm.
After she died and I turned from the god
for whom she had knelt on hard floors all her life
I turned to a world that my father thought odd
but allowed in respect to his wife.
I worked through a nihilist teenager phase
where I worshipped the dreaded Glam Rock
and landed at last, in my late teenage days,
as a Tranny lock, barrel and stock.
Spent all my money on dresses and wigs
and danced with the girls at the Marc Almond gigs.
