No-Mow May
Over the roar and throb
of a council lawnmower
and another worker with a leaf blower
fly tones of a heated argument.
the tenant of a house
with unkempt front garden
which has been cut down by a yellowjacket
with an industrial strimmer.
It seems he also cut down the mans hedging
as it rose above the flowering grass stalks
ripe for the culling.
And now the tenant is cross.
Checking the raised voices
I stand ready to intervene
but it's three council blokes and one tenant
and none of my fucking business
