my former life as a peasant
displaced by war

Psalm 140 (for America)
Rescue us from evil men;
from men of violence,
who devise evil in their hearts
and stir up war all day long.
They sharpen their tongues like snakes;
the venom of vipers is on their lips
Guard us from the hands of the wicked.
who make war on innocents
and scheme to make us stumble
into voting with our hearts
but sans thought and reasoning..
The trillionaires hide snares for us;
tempting the poor with broken promises;
luring voters with bribery and lies.
Say to the Diapered "You are the President
elected for the good of the people
and not your personal wealth.
Hear our cries for help."
"You should be our salvation,
shielding us from inflation
and raising the poorest among us
to a decent human standard.
Grant not the desires of the oligarchs
do not promote their evil plans,
do not exalt their gold and power.
May the heads of those who profit
be covered in the trouble their lies have caused.
May burning coals fall on them;
may they be thrown into the fire,
and into the miry pits, never to rise again.
Banish the slanders from the land;
the rapists, the paedophiles,
the media who divert attention
from those who do such evil
and may calamity strike those who kill the innocent.
Let the judges uphold justice for the poor
and defend the cause of the needy.
Let the courts rule with the law
and not for personal profit
that they might be upheld at last
as men and women of honour.
