watery sun

cherry stump
becomes a mass of frills
as fungi takes over
beauty in death.
we should celebrate that
in the death of people
but the knowledge of our mortality
drives us to preservation
and denial of the process.
Grief is cathartic
and should be embraced
for without it
we cannot grow.
But I still miss my dog.
