full bins
all along the roadside
the silence of school holidays

crossing train tracks
and waiting for the northbound one
to take us away
we shelter in a disused station
where the dust shows our footprints
and the sounds of a collision
are muted by longing
while a trickle of urine
reveals the Roman mosaics
of ancient history.
