eases the symptoms
but not the root cause of the pain
Why did you tell your prospective employer
that your wife was 'up for anything?'
It took divorce and twenty years
but the hurt remains.
I still have the scar you gave me
but it's old, now, faded
to a tiny white mark
whereas the one inside
makes me hope you're dead and buried.
