pale sky
over reluctant infants
the dog barking

the slow pulse of a headache
wandering the inner temple
a pair of bells both ring flat
discordant
against the melody of sparrows
in the cold winter air.
there's no food in the feeder
and the peanuts have rotted in the damp air
on the pavement outside
a child steps in untended dogshit
that the bloke in number fifty-eight
pretended he didn't see.
