denuding the bird feeder

eating a biscuit
while the dog is in the garden
so she doesn't stare at you
with those soulful eyes,
betrayed.
This must be how Republicans go to church
mumbling prayers to a God
they imagine doesn't hear them
spit anger at everyone
or see them raping children;
firing guns at Black people,
trans, gays, non-whites, Democrats
and women who reject them.
