morning gold
fading to gray
barking dog

hard to tell
if the headache i'm suffering
is the onset of COVID
or just a case of missing you.
Saturday conversation silenced
and no smell of fresh-brewed coffee
Wind howling through the bare branches
makes me think of dark canvas
Red on Maroon
Red on Black
spitting blood on white porcelain
every morning for fifty years.
