as a child
Friday was shopping day
when my mother would walk the mile or two
to the Barnt Green Fine Fare
and would ask me what I wanted
as my once-a-week treat.
Generally I asked for a pineapple tart
but once in a while I'd get a lardy cake
my favourite treat.
No wonder I spent my life
struggling with obesity.
