forsythia hedge
a fountain of yellow
my bruises

for the first twenty years
I had plenty of time but no money
for the next forty
money but no time
and now we're back to time and no money.
My loved ones go hither and thither
between other loves and holidays
while I keep the house and dogs
and a pair of warm slippers.
