sweeping rain
across the bay
glittering sunshine

when they ask
"What did you do on your birthday?"
I'll answer: "A jigsaw with my mother-in-law"
but that doesn't cover the laughter,
the idyllic setting,
the dog zooming across the beach
and the death of my partner's father.
