the dog pees on the bed

Dad's chicken coop
long abandoned
(my mum didn't like chickens;)
a storage shed for dry wood,
compost bags,
great mounds of soot from the chimneys,
and crates of plastic flower pots, seed trays, tools.
Like stepping back in time
and seeing the past lives of parents,
grandparents, slipping away.
