wakes me from a deep sleep

your words and deeds
fill me with delight and self confidence
where the same words from another man
filled me with pain and self loathing.
It's all in the tone and the intent.
You want mutual growth and community;
he wanted the money I offered
and the prestige that came with it.
Teaching is all about attitude.
Even after fifty years I remember the one who inspired
and the one who despised their pupils.
