raindrops
hanging from birch branches
prismatic sunshine

cherry blossom
scatters confetti over dismal graves
in a defunded cemetery.
The still bury people here,
but the flowerbeds have been grassed over,
the brambles allowed free reign
and the old iron fences,
jittery with rust and disrepair,
no longer keep the trespassers out
or the restless spirits in.
Century-old graves tilt
the dental-work of the damned
embedded in the gums of council turf.
