Sheffield Road, 8:30 AM
A woman is shouting
at a man across the street.
I'm driving past the minimart
and I wonder if I should stop
to see if she needs help of any kind
(I've just come from jiu-jitsu practice,
so I'm feeling brave, for once)
but then she smiles and laughs
and her smile ignites my own.
Is this what it is to be human?
To be pleased that a stranger is happy?
A lot of people could use that lesson
and the world would be better.
