whining dog

an old man glares at me,
standing by the side of his car,
one hand resting possessively on the roof
as I walk past with the dogs.
I wonder what team he supports
as his face turns as red
as the baseball cap covering his bald patch
but whoever it is, the mere existence
of a red baseball cap defines him:
racist, right-wing, intolerant.
Good day to you, sir. Good day.
