Ancient Egypt had the Book of the Dead
to guide lost souls to immortal life
Asian culture has a Ghost Month instead
Dia de Los Muertos a Mexican rite.
In Japan you can find a Buddhist shrine
to honour the ancestor spirits there
The Jews set Shiva, a week of their time,
to remember the loved one amid despair.
But Western culture expects you to cope
with the grief you experience after a loss
"You'll see them in Heaven" the church's great hope
"Have half a day off" if you have a good boss.
With AI there might be a meaningful way
to talk to the dead and still hear what they say.
