I.VII
She has a basic toolbox in her room
full of tools she scavenged from her father
his hoarded duplicates from post-war boom
and gifted from mechanic jobs he'd gather.
She mostly has the things an artist needs
for stretching canvas onto hand-made frames
but basic tools proliferate by deeds
and rescued from the college waste-skip flames.
A cross-head screwdriver is put to use
to unscrew hinges from the bedroom door
her need for it outweighs tenant's abuse
of property the landlord bought before.
