But Mother died when she was only twelve

and left her with a dad who couldn't cope

so she had to all but raise her teenage self

and navigate a lonely life to cope.

Despite the best intentions from her peers

and ready meals from neighbours of her dad

she suffered with her social faux-pas jeers

and turned from being joyful to just sad.

She recognises now, this residue

that makes dead kittie's fur stand all on end;

the scratches on the table are all due

to someone saying prayers which never send.
