happy birthday

To look into this silvered glass reveal
a face that seems familiar, but not;
what do those lines around mine eyes conceal?
what troubles of my past I have forgot?
My hair has lightened since my former youth;
my eyes have faded from their intense blue,
my smile becomes more natural for the truth
that each day holds the gift of something new.`
I am my mother’s glass, though she stayed red
until her death (which I have exceeded)
and I am fitter now than I was ever bred
and aim to have my heath concerns receded
But if I die an accidental death
remember I have loved with every breath.
